
Xavier Prats Monné

Xavier is the President of the Board of Governors of Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona and of the Advisory Board of UOC, the Open University of Catalonia. He chairs the Europe Board of Teach For All, the global non-profit organisation working to expand educational opportunity worldwide. He is a member of the advisory committee of the Alliance for Gender Equality in Europe (AGEE), the first collaborative fund dedicated to supporting progress on gender equality in Europe. He is an associate of Dones Mentores, a Spanish civil society organisation dedicated to the prevention and eradication of violence against women, and he is also on the advisory board of Women in Global Health Spain. He is a board member of the Banco Sabadell Foundation and of Comms Hub, which supports civil society organisations working for democracy and human rights. He is an adviser on education and health to the Jacques Delors Institute in Paris and to the Fundación Conocimiento y Desarrollo, which is dedicated to strengthening the contribution of universities to knowledge and development. He previously served at the European Commission, including as Director-General for Education and Culture and for Health and Food Safety. He holds a degree in anthropology from the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as postgraduate degrees in economic development from the Centre International des Hautes Études Agronomiques Méditerranéennes and in European studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. He grew up in Rome and now lives in Barcelona.
