Viviane Teitelbaum
Member of the Senate of Belgium
Bio:
Viviane Teitelbaum has been a member of the Belgian Senate since July 2024, and is President of the APF (Assemblée parlementaire de la francophonie) Network of Women Parliamentarians. She was a member of the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region from 2004 to 2024, where she served on the Equality and Women’s Rights, Social Affairs/Health and Environment committees.
As an councilwoman of Ixelles from 2012 to 2018, she implemented the first gender-sensitive budget at municipal level in Belgium.
As a committed and recognised feminist, she is currently European President of the International Women’s Council and President of the Feminist Observatory on Violence against Women. She was President of the European Women’s Lobby from 2012 to 2016 – and is currently its Vice-President – and President of the Conseil des Femmes Francophones de Belgique from 2010 to 2018. As author, she has published 10 books and contributed to various collective works.
She has a degree in journalism and social communication (ULB) and a Master’s in international relations (University of Southern California, USA), and is trilingual in French, English and Dutch.
