Alessia Ruta

Communities and Programming Assistant.

Alessia Ruta (she/her) is a young professional joining Women Political Leaders as
Communities & Programming Assistant.

Since a teenager, she has operated at the intersection of advocacy, public policy, academia,
institutions and civil society, which led her to build solid experience in designing, managing,
and expanding international projects on democratic participation and human rights
education. Her expertise includes project management and event management (with a
strong focus on participatory formats and inclusive approaches), alongside stakeholder
engagement, strategic communication, and multi-level coordination in complex international
environments.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations and Human
Rights obtained cum laude from the University of Padova. She is currently completing her
master’s degree in European Studies at the Institut d’études européennes de l’Université
Libre de Bruxelles. Her research activity focuses on gender mainstreaming across policy
sectors.
In October 2025, she was elected to the board of directors of Volt Italia, the Italian national
chapter of the progressive pan-European party Volt Europa. The main responsibilities of her
mandate include external communication, international relations, the policy pillar on the
reform of the education system, as well as the co-leadership of the internal committee for
women’s political participation.
Her work is driven by a strong commitment to social justice, equality, and democratic
innovation, with the aim of strengthening women’s role in political life and decision-making
processes across Europe and beyond.
