Convened by WPL in partnership with Microsoft, this year’s reception brings WPL’s flagship Representation Matters theme into two areas shaping the international agenda: global security and the governance of artificial intelligence.
The evening will centre on two frameworks already endorsed by the United Nations membership: the Women, Peace and Security agenda and the Global Digital Compact. Together, they raise a defining question for political leadership today: who is trusted to govern security and technology on the world’s behalf, and whose voices are shaping that governance?
At a time when questions of peace, security, digital transformation and trust are increasingly interconnected, the reception will bring together political, institutional and technology leaders for a series of brief, fast-paced conversations. These exchanges will consider how representation influences the strength and legitimacy of the institutions responsible for decisions on security and emerging technologies.
