Paula Mifsud Bonnici
Paula Mifsud Bonnici, Member of the House of Representatives of Malta
Bio: Paula Mifsud Bonnici is a lawyer by profession and a current member of the Parliament of Malta
(14 th Legislature) and also a member of the Parliament of Malta between 2013 and 2017 (12 th Legislature) for the Nationalist Party representing the First District. During the 12 th Legislature, she was also a member of Family Affairs Parliamentary Committee and of Social Affairs Parliamentary Committee. She is currently a member of the Family Affairs Parliamentary Committee, part of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) Delegation and also the Opposition’s Assistant Whip. She also belongs to the European People’s Party (EPP) political group in the European Parliament. She is also the Opposition Spokesperson for the Elderly and Community Services.
Paula started in politics in the local elections of 1996 at Hamrun town. She was elected as Vice-Mayor during the first term and then as a local councillor and a Minority Leader during all subsequent elections until elected to the Maltese Parliament in 2013. In November 2009, she was the first woman elected President of the General Council of Nationalist Party and was re-elected again during all subsequent elections until 2017. She occupied various other posts within the Nationalist Party, including President of the Administrative Council and also a member of the Executive Committee and also Secretary General of the College of Local Councillors within the Nationalist Party.
