The Reykjavík Manual: Practical actions to achieve equality
WPL at the 2021 SDG Global Festival of Action
After being cancelled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the fifth edition of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Global Festival of Action is set to take place virtually on the 25th and 26th of March. This ground-breaking annual event, powered by the UN SDG Action Campaign, finds new ways to inspire and accelerate action on the SDGs. The Festival is intended to provoke debate and drive action around cross cutting themes with specific discussions focused on the ‘Turning It Around’ for poverty, inequality, gender, climate action and inclusive systems, and finance.
WPL will be hosting a virtual Knowledge Sharing Panel on The Reykjavík Manual: Practical actions to achieve equality, on Thursday 25th of March at 3:45-4:30 PM (CET). This session will present some of the practical and tangible solutions offered by women leaders to advance SDG 5 on Gender Equality, as outlined in the Reykjavík Manual. Moderating the discussion and contributing to the extraordinary panel of high-level speakers will be

eLaunched at the Reykjavik Global Forum 2020, and introduced at The Davos Agenda 2021, the Reykjavík Manual is a living document shaped by contributions from women leaders around the globe, who present concrete actions and proven solutions all leaders can use to “build back better”. The release of each chapter is progressive and periodic. To this date, the first chapter on SDG 5 has already been published and is available on the Reykjavík Global Forum’s website.
This panel will serve as an important opportunity to share with leaders from across sectors the findings of the Reykjavík Manual and solutions synthesized thus far to advance SDG5. In doing so, it will bring the Manual to life and discuss what these solutions mean for global leaders across sectors, and how they can be used, practically, to create change within society – whether in families, communities, the boardroom or government
