Olga Kefalogianni
Olga Kefalogianni, Member of the Hellenic Parliament: “Under-representation of women in decision-making centers is perpetuated by various factors, including the diversity of roles of modern women, socio-economic conditions and deficient social policies. In order to encourage women to participate in decision-making centers, it is necessary to aim for a better quality of life for women in general. This in effect helps promote our common goal of encouraging better practices for humanity. On this basis, it is crucial to give prominence to such policies, through the development – within the WLF – of a communication network at a parliamentary level. Key targets are: Narrowing the gender pay gap; the extension of the sharing of family care responsibilities between women and men, which serve the further reconciliation of working life and the upbringing of children; the release of funding for the creation of education and training structures for women. As the WPL Ambassador for the Hellenic Parliament, I convey my confidence for creative collaboration with all members of the Community of WPL Ambassador, which will bring us one step closer to achieving equality – equal opportunities, access, and participation – between men and women.”
