What is the role of Artificial Intelligence in the world? How to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) is innovative and trustworthy and that respects human rights and democratic values? Women and men Parliamentarians will be discussing this topic on the occasion of a virtual meeting of the OECD Global Parliamentary Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on 2 December 2020 at 13:00 to 17:45 CET.
Women Political Leaders (WPL) is partnering with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) and the European Parliament’s Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA), for this unique assembly of legislators working on AI with a global perspective.
The meeting offers an opportunity for Members of Parliament and OECD experts to engage in high-level dialogue concerning AI developments. At the meeting, women Parliamentarians have the opportunity to share their insights and strategies regarding AI, generate discussions on its future, its benefits and implications, and discuss the specific role of parliaments and societies in increasing those benefits and decreasing any associated drawbacks.
The following topics are anticipated: an update on the OECD’s work in the area of Artificial Intelligence; a session dedicated to lessons and priorities emerging from the COVID-19 crisis; and a legislative learning-space for exchanging AI-related initiatives taken in Parliaments around the world.
You can access the draft programme on the Parliamentary Network’s website and will be regularly updated.
