The World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos engages the world’s top leaders in collaborative activities focused on shaping the global, regional and industry agendas.
The Women in Parliaments Global Forum (WIP) organised the Panel discussion hosted by EY “Power, disrupted. An opportunity for more women in leadership?”. This session surrounded the theme of new media and technology, and women’s political participation.
Technology is fundamentally changing the ways that people work and live, opening up new opportunities and questions. Leadership paradigms are disrupted, and reshaped. Technology has powerful disruptive effects on political decision making and traditional power structures. Technology can open up political processes to previously uninvolved sections of society. With this in mind, the panel discussion will address key questions such as, what is the full potential for new technologies in facilitating greater diversity in our leadership? Will they broaden political participation? What impact does new media have on the lives and careers of the people we entrust with power? How can we harness the tremendous transformative potential of digital innovation to advance women in public leadership?
