Join Women Political Leaders (WPL) during Davos Week for the launch of the 2024 Representation Matters report. The session, ‘Representation Matters: How Women’s Political Leadership Can Accelerate Global Economic Growth’, will take place on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM CET during Davos Week, Switzerland.
The Representation Matters report, initiated by WPL and realised in partnership with the Oliver Wyman Forum and the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law, delivers compelling evidence of how women’s participation in political leadership transforms societies. It demonstrates that when women play a greater role in shaping laws and policies, economies flourish, workforce participation rises, ultimately leading to more economic growth.
WPL’s inaugural 2023 report established a clear link between women’s political leadership and economic growth, showing that countries with higher representation of women in leadership positions excelled across multiple indicators of opportunity and development. Building on these findings, the 2024 report provides updated insights and practical recommendations.
This launch follows recent impactful engagements at UNGA79 and the World Bank Annual Meetings, where global leaders explored the transformative impact of inclusive leadership. The Davos session will address critical challenges, such as breaking down barriers to political participation and fostering cross-sector collaboration in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape.
The Representation Matters report underscores the vital role of women’s voices in political leadership to drive global economic growth.
Join us in Davos to explore actionable solutions and champion the importance of representation in shaping a better future for all.
