Robert Abela
We need more women as political leaders because our citizens deserve to have a fair representation of the whole population at the decision-making level. Women are an integral part of our society, culture, and our future. Their active role in politics, business and the community enriches our perspective, enhances our understanding, and contributes to our democracy.
It is therefore vital for our society to strengthen the voice of women in politics and see more women in leadership roles. I am proud that half of the senior positions in the Maltese public service are occupied by women, and I augur that through the Gender Balance in Parliament Reform, we will have a more gender representative Maltese parliament. Malta is committed to achieve gender equality on a political level and shape a future where women and men stand on equal footing during the decision-making process.
